Most people on Sadde are musicians like you. A few simple habits make sure every deal goes smoothly.
Before you meet
- Ask questions. How old is it, has it been repaired, why are they selling? A genuine seller is happy to answer.
- Ask for more photos or a short video of the instrument being played.
- Check the price. If a nearly new Fender costs half what it does everywhere else, be careful.
When you meet
- Meet in a public place during the day, or at a music shop or rehearsal space. Bring a friend if you can.
- Try it before you pay. Plug it in, play every string or key, try every knob and switch.
- Check serial numbers on expensive instruments and compare them with the seller's documents.
Paying
- Never send money or a deposit before you have seen the item. This is the most common scam.
- Pay in person, in cash or by bank transfer once you are happy.
- Ask for a simple handwritten receipt for expensive items.
Warning signs
- The seller can't meet and wants to send the item by courier after you pay.
- They push you to decide quickly or offer a "special price today".
- They ask for your bank login, card number or a one-time code. Nobody genuine ever needs these.
